Hi guys!
I think you should be aware that a Margaret Thatcher printed letter is being sold on Ebay and elsewhere as the real thing.
An authentic handwritten letter of sympathy to a Mr Broughton has been professionally printed - not photocopied or scanned - suggesting that a potentially large number are floating around somewhere.
I have seen two copies of this letter, and on one, "point of pen" marks have been laboriously scraped into the printed letters with the head of a pin or similar object, to give the illusion of authenticity. This has been cunningly done and only by use of a lens can the fakery be spotted.
Another pointer to it being printed is the letterhead, which is not embossed as you would expect.
I have been caught out by this letter myself and have had to reimburse a customer.
Given that a printer has been involved in the production of the fake, a lot of people potentially are at risk. Best wishes
