Elizabeth Taylor: 1932-2011

on Wednesday, 25 January 2012. Posted in Vintage Entertainment

Elizabeth Taylor, the violet-eyed femme fatale whose smoldering talent and eight marriages made her a legend of Hollywood's golden era, died on March 23, 2011. She was 79.

The two-time Oscar winner suffered from congestive heart failure and had been hospitalized in Los Angeles since February.

If you are attempting to obtain an authentic Elizabeth Taylor signature...be aware of secretarial signatures, pre-printed signatures, and autopen signatures. By the end of the 1940's, over nine hundred letters arrived weekly at the studio for the young ingénue, so Taylor had some help from the studio secretaries in keeping up. Pre-printed autographs are photographs that have been signed once and then mass-produced. These were often sent out by MGM to autograph collectors of the 1940s and 1950s.

Also be aware of forgeries...look at authentic examples and buy only from those dealers you trust. Forget the third-party authenticated items...I've seen too many bad examples deemed authentic and vice-versa. Find a good signature study and/or authentic examples to compare with.

Taylor was always a gracious signer in person, trying her best to appease the mobs of fans that are ever present. This may be because Taylor herself loved to collect autographs.

    FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is one of the biggest football clubs in the whole world. The club sells souvenirs for thousands of Euro year after year and hits next sales records. It seems to me that original, received in-person autograph could be better and more valuable item than next scarf or t-shirt. This is why so much fans decide to go to FC Barcelona training ground Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper in Sant Joan Despi. I was there several times and I did not regret at all even if I did not collect lots of signed photos.

There were rich possibilities to collect drivers autograph by the Hungarian Grand Prix last weekend in Budapest.

50th anniversary of Kartclub Kerpen with Michael and Sebastian Vettel

Both, Michael and Sebastian, were close to the fans. So it was possible to collect a lot of great autographs. Michael wrote autographs in many different situations. Sebastian wrote even more always trying to fulfill every autographs wish. At the end of the day I had more Michael autographs as usual.

Directly after leaving Kerpen, I travelled to Spa in Belgium. F1.

Lewis Hamilton has become the most arrogant person inside the F1 paddock. He did not sign photographs at all, especially large ones. He ignored them at any time. He only did sign a few programmes, papers and other fan stuff. There was no chance to get an photograph signed at all.
